Distributed across the Indo-Pacific. In Japan, found in the Nakama River and Urauchi River of Iriomote Island. Inhabits murky and brackish waters, often seen in waterways near estuaries and mangroves. It squirts water from its mouth and feeds on insects that are on leaves just above the surface of the water. Identified by its triangular body with five black spots.
