Barred mudskipper

Found in tropical mangroves of the western Pacific. In Japan, from Amami Island southwards. It reaches 10 cm in length. By closing its gill covers to keep in moisture, they can stay on land for extended periods of time. It hops around on land using its pectoral fins. They breathe air through their moist skin.
