Big blue octopus

Widely distributed across the Indo-Pacific. In Japan, found on coral reefs of Hachijo-jima, and from Shikoku southwards. Slightly large reaching 100 to 120 cm in length. It has noticeable eye-like patterns right below its eyes and this is the origin of its Japanese name (Wamon-dako). In Okinawa, they are an important food resource.
