Deep-sea pram bug

This species of deep-sea amphipod crustacean is a member of the Phronimidae family. It swims and floats in the sea. It preys on salps and pyrosomes. It feeds on their internal flesh, then females use the outer parts for nesting and nursing. The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is successful in long term rearing of this species.
