Big roughy
Found at depths from 300 to 600 meters. Its body is pale red with a blueish tinge on its underside. The big roughy has a large appetite and can swallow a 20 cm amberstripe scad. By observing individuals that reproduced here at the Churaumi Aquarium, our staff have been able to study the transformation from egg to larvae to juvenile.
