This species is a sea pen in the family Pennatulidae. Its peduncle stands upwards on sandy and muddy floors and its feathery frond has polyps which catch plankton. Its body can expand and retract. When expanded (first image) it is twice as large as when it is retracted (second image). It luminesces when stimulated.
