Sea star species
※Off display.
This sea star inhabits sandy floors at depths around 20 meters. It looks similar to the horned sea star (Protoreaster nodosus) but the Poraster superbus has much smaller protrusions. It is called the hitosujikobuhide (single-lined horned sea star) in Japanese because of the single lines of protrusions.
