Poison ocellate octopus

In Japan, it is an uncommon species of octopus with few cases of it being caught. Details of its ecology are not known. Identified by a blue circular ring on the base of its arm. In Okinawa, they are caught at depths of around 150 to 200 meters. They are venomous and caution must be taken. The Churashima Foundation’s unmanned submarine was able to record it in its sandy and silty habitat at a depth of 188 meters.
