Ascidian

A single-bodied species of ascidian found on horny corals at depths from 120 to 200 meters. It filters and feeds on organic matter by taking in sea water. One unusual behavior that has been observed during rearing of the species is that after it molts its outer tunic, it shrinks its body and swims to a new location before reattaching itself.

Scientific name Polycarpa clavata
English name Ascidian
