Red-streaked box crab

Inhabits sandy sea floors at depths of 30 to 200 meters. Found in the Indian Ocean, and in Japan from Tokyo Bay southwards. Around Okinawa Island, they are collected from sandy areas at depths between 150 and 200 meters. Dark-brown streaks covers the claws which are the origin of the Japanese name Torafucarappa. They are often hidden under the sand.
