Rough-toothed dolphin

The rough toothed dolphin inhabits open seas in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. They are found off of the east and west coast of Japan’s main island. It is also one of the species that are frequently seen in the waters near Okinawa. It is named the rough-toothed dolphin due to the rough surface of its teeth. It has a distinctive conical head with a slender nose without a melon bulge. Very few of this species have been reared.
