A species of butterflyfish (Chaetodontidae) found at depths from 122 to 340 meters. In Japan, it was recorded in 1978 from the Kyushu-Palau Ridge. Successful observation of this species was made near the main island of Okinawa at a depth of 350 meters using Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium’s ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle).
