This species of murex sea snail lives at depths from 200 to 300 meters. Usually it is under the sand, but when it smells food that has fallen to the seabed it surfaces to scavenge. The individuals cared for and exhibited in the aquarium were caught by basket fishing. These crabs are very useful creatures in the aquarium because they break down any leftover food.
