Asiatic arabian cowry

Distributed throughout the Indo-Pacific. In Japan it is found around the Boso Peninsula and south of the Shimane Peninsula. It is a medium-size cowry with a shell approximately 6 to 7 cm in length. Its dorsal side has bands which are covered in dark-reddish mesh patterns. It is commonly observed in the tidal zones of rocky reefs and coral reefs at depths around 20 meters.
