Parasol urchin
※Off display.
The parasol urchin has unusual spines. Smaller spines grow off the urchin’s larger spines, and these large spines splay out like the ribs of a parasol. The surfaces of its spines are often covered with a sticky substance to help camouflage it from predators. They are found in Okinawa at depths below 400 meters.
