Okichan Theater has been entertaining visitors since 1975.

Okichan and Muku are Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins. They’ve been with us since the International Ocean Exposition in 1975!
We’re celebrating 50 years of rearing Okichan and Muku. As we look back on half a century, we will also share updates and plans for the aquarium.

50th year special events

Oki-chan, an Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin who had been part of our dolphin shows for 50 years since 1975,
passed away on December 2, 2025.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the warm support shown to Oki-chan over the years.

Many important pictures and footage of the dolphin shows from the past were exhibited along with the outfits of the successive trainers.
We look back on the past 50 years of Okichan’s and Muku’s journeys, and their roles as symbols of tourism for Okinawa.
We will also share information on the life of the dolphins and how we care for them. You may learn their secrets to longevity!

Diver show for a limited time only

Diver shows were performed until 2020, and they will return for a limited time.
We hope you enjoy the heartwarming show performed by a diver, and Muku who is entering his 50th year of rearing.

Commissioning ceremony as Motobu Town’s police chief for a day

The Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins Okichan and Muku, performed at the Okichan Theater when appointed as the Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Police of Motobu Town for a day.
Okichan and Muku have reached their 50th year of rearing this May. These dolphins hold the world’s longest rearing record for the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin.
To commemorate this event, we held a one-off special performance and dolphin show with live music conducted by the Okinawa Prefectural Police Band.

Commemoration ceremony for 50 years of rearing

A certificate of appreciation was given to Okichan, and a one-off special dolphin show took place.
Over the past 50 years, so many visitors have loved the talent and charm of Okichan and Muku. We celebrated the memorable day with Okichan, Muku, and our visitors.
