Fluted giant clam

A large bivalve clam with a shell length reaching 40 cm. It inhabits coral reefs at around 20 meters depth. It gets its nutrition from zooxanthellae that photosynthesize within its mantle. It is identified by the fluted edges known as scutes on the surface of its shell.
