A species of snapper that is commonly eaten. It can be distinguished from the Japanese snapper by the vertical bands on the side of its body. This fish is one of the familiar species in Churaumi Aquarium and is popular amongst local fisherman. This individual was collected while fishing in Nago Bay at a depth of around 200 meters.
