A relatively common species of batfish of the genus Malthopsis. Identified by the ring patterns on its back giving it the Japanese name Wanukefuuryuuo. Its pectoral and pelvic fin are modified so it appears to walk. When threatened it spreads its pectoral fins and fixes its body to the seafloor.
