Juvenile and adult blackspotted wrasse are different colors. Juveniles and female adult fish have many black spots covering the body. Male adult fish have longitudinal bands at the front of the body and blue-green spots regularly aligned from the center to the rear of the body. Juvenile fish inhabit coral reefs and rocky areas.
