Izu cat shark

The Izu cat shark is a small shark found in Japan around the Izu Peninsula, Chiba Sotobo, and in Taiwan. It has small white spots, and looks similar to the cloudy catshark (Scyliorhinus torazame). This individual was caught during a resource survey conducted by the Okinawa Prefectural Fishery and Ocean Research Center Ship Tonan Maru. When this individual was caught it was the first record of the species in Okinawa and an important discovery.
