Pale ornate jobfish
- World's First
- Rare species
- Rareness:★★★★★

In 1911, the pale ornate jobfish was described as a new species by an American researcher, but later it was reclassed as a subspecies of the ornate jobfish. Surveys were conducted in February 2020, and it was once again determined as a different species. The pale ornate jobfish looks similar to the ornate jobfish, however it can be distinguished apart by its paler body and there are no white borders to its dorsal fin, caudal fin and anal fins. It also has blue dots along the sides of its dorsal fins. Ornate jobfish inhabit rocky areas at depths from 200 to 300 meters, but this species inhabits sandy and muddy areas. It has so far only been discovered in the Ryukyu Islands.
