  • Rareness:★★★★★

Groeneveld’s stingfish had previously been found only a few times in Indonesia, before it was recorded for the first time in Japan. Its Japanese name comes from Ada Village in Okinawa Prefecture where it was found. It uses parts of its pectoral fins like feet to walk across the seabed. In the aquarium it often burrows half of its body in the sand and rests.
