Bubble coral　／　Rounded bubblegum coral

Widely distributed in the coral reef areas of the Indian Ocean, central and western Pacific Ocean. In Japan, they are found from Amami Oshima southwards on reef slopes and channels of 5m to 10m depth, but are uncommon. The colony’s surface is covered in vesicles resembling bubbles. The Japanese name is derived from this bubble-like appearance. This coral is greenish gray and white. They do not usually exceed 20cm in diameter.
