Palette surgeonfish

Inhabits the coral reef areas off of Kochi Prefecture and southwards. Juvenile fish live between coral rocks, but as they grow they move to areas with a good tide and rocky shores. Adults grow to 25cm in length, they are cobalt blue with black markings. Their tail fin is yellow. They have a sharp spine located in the caudal peduncle.
