Yellow-brown wrasse

Distributed across the Indo-Pacific. In Japan, found from Wakayama Prefecture southwards and the Ogasawara Islands. Reaches 25 cm in length. It is a species of wrasse (Labridae) and is commonly seen in shallow coral reef areas. The body of females is predominantly yellow, however, the males have orange patterns on the head, blue pectoral fins, while the body has gradations from blue to bright golden yellow.
