Ambon damsel

Distributed across the Western Pacific including the Ryukyu Islands. A species of damselfish reaching 9 cm in length. The body structure and color is similar to the lemon damselfish (Pomacentrus moluccensis). The ambon damselfish can be distinguished by the large size of adults, a pinkish color, and a black dot on the base of its pectoral fin. Commonly seen in reef ponds of coral reefs dwelling in branched corals. You can observe them in “The sea of tropical fish” tank living amongst artificial rocks and between coral branches fighting for territories. Although small and cute, they are bold and will even try to intimidate divers.
