Asian swamp eel

Distributed across Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and the coast of mainland China. Also found in mainland Japan and Okinawa. It has no pectoral fins, pelvic fins and scales. They breathe air due to their degenerated gills. Swamp eels that inhabits the Ryukyu Islands are genetically differs from swamp eels that are found in other regions, and also differ in reproductive behaviors.
