Tiger shark
※Off display.

Distributed across tropical and temperate waters. It is a large shark known for attacking humans. Identified by its round, short mouth, and vertical stripes. It is named the tiger shark after its tiger-like patterns. The patterns fade as the shark gets older. They are known as garbage eaters, eating various things such as fish, mammals, sea turtles, birds and even empty cans. They eat well in the aquarium, however, it is easy for them to get scratches due to swimming alongside the flat surface of the tank. At the Churaumi Aquarium a 3.2-meter tiger shark produced 30 pups in a single birth.

Scientific name Galeocerdo cuvier
