Yellowfin tuna

Distributed in temperate and tropical seas across the world including around Japan. It reaches 2 meters in length and is one of the larger tuna species. Large individuals are mainly found offshore and are one of the fish targeted by commercial deep-sea fishing. Small to medium-size fish inhabit the coasts and are caught in fixed nets or by tuna fishing boats. They are very fast swimmers and can reach 40km/h. In Okinawa, they are called chinbanibecause of their yellow fins. They are delicious.
