Bigeye trevally
Distributed in the Indo-Pacific including south Japan. Reaches 50 cm in length. Juveniles from 2 to 5 cm in length have 6 vertical black bands on their sides that disappear as adults. It also has a black spot above its gill covers, and a second dorsal fin with a distinctive white tip. In Okinawa, they are often caught in fixed nets. It is a member of the medium-sized Carangidae family and relatively easy to look after in aquariums. The juveniles are often in brackish waters were river water and the ocean meet.
