Pacific bluefin tuna
Found in temperate and tropical waters in the Pacific including Japan. It is spindle-shaped with a black dorsal side and short pectoral fins. They are the largest species of tuna reaching 3 meters in length and 400 kilos. They are called hon-maguro in Japanese, and are extremely delicious served as sashimi. Its commercial price is very high because of this, and they are at risk from overfishing.
