Redeye goby

This small goby reaches approximately 2 cm in length. It can form schools of more than 100 individuals. Its body is translucent with reddish-pink eyes. Its Japanese name akamehaze means red eye goby. Usually it is hovering over Acropora stony corals and when it senses danger it hides between the coral branches. In Japan, it is found around Yakushima Island and the Ryukyu Islands.
