Horned sea star

Distributed off of the Amami Islands, the Ryukyu Islands and Ogasawara Islands, Indian Ocean and Western Pacific. They inhabit sandy bottoms where eelgrass grows. It is a large sea star with radius up to 10cm. Their body is thick and solid with a distinctive horns protruding in lines on its dorsal side.
