In Japan, they are distributed off of the Kii Peninsula and southwards. They live at depths of 5 to 10 meters, and can be found on coral reefs and the sandy sea floor. Its spindle-shaped shell reaches up to 15cm in length and has 6 horns. It is called suijigai in Japanese as the shape of the shell looks similar to the kanji 水.
