Distributed throughout the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. In Japan, around the Amami Islands and Ryukyu Islands. A colony has a thin leaf-like shape, some individuals can grow large and exceed 1 meter. They inhabit reef slopes and areas of calm water, but are an uncommon species.
