In Japan, distributed from Sagami Bay southwards. They are related to seahorses. They usually swim upside-down with their head downward. Reaches around 15 cm in length. It primarily feeds on zooplankton. They look like thin leaves and are called “Kinuhaiyu” (leaf fish) in the Okinawan dialect.
