Inhabits the outer edge of coral reefs and reef slopes. Colors and patterns differ between male, female and juvenile fish. A juvenile has a milky white body with orange from the frontal edge of its eyes to the edge of its pectoral fin. They are popular aquarium fish. The male is a vivid green, and the female has a relatively sober body color.
