Distributed in the Indo-Pacific. In Japan, from Hokkaido southwards. It has dark grey-blue spots scattered on their dorsal side, with dark and pale rings on the tail. They are often buried in the sand. Blue-spotted stingrays that are caught are often 50cm wide.
