Distributed across the Indo-Pacific including the Ryukyu Islands. They have beautiful body colors. It swims alone or in small groups near coral reefs, they do not swim around a lot, nor do they create large schools. They feed on crustaceans and bristle worms. They can change gender from female to male during their life (protogynous hermaphroditism).
