Distributed in the Western Pacific. In Japan, from the main island of Okinawa southwards. It is a fairly large clownfish reaching 13 cm in length. Identified by its stocky body, and its white saddle-like patch. There are 6 species of clownfish that are found in Okinawa, and this is the least common. They live symbiotically with Haddon's sea anemone (Stichodactyla haddoni) that is found on the sandy seafloor. It lays its eggs on top of boulders. They may also lay eggs in aquarium tanks and you can observe them protecting the eggs laid on the surface of the walls.
