Distributed across the Indo-Pacific. In Japan, from central Honshu southwards. It forms schools and inhabits coasts and rocky shores with good tidal flow. They have beautiful green and black spots scattered on their body, and blue dorsal and anal fins. Reaches 50cm in length. They are delicious, and a popular fish for lure fishing.
