A small parrotfish. Like the individual in the image, males have a dark blue head with pink cheeks. The colors on the side of its body are diverse. Females are reddish brown making it extremely hard to distinguish them from other species. Juveniles swim in schools with other parrotfish juveniles in inner bays of coral reefs and amongst seaweeds. They secrete a mucus cocoon before sleeping.
