A species of requiem shark (Carcharhinidae family) that reaches 3 meters in length. It is easily distinguished from other requiem sharks by the white edge to the tip of its fins. The Japanese name tsumajiro is also derived from the white tips of its fins. They are distributed in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the Indo-Pacific. It is rarely seen off of the main island of Okinawa, however, they are more common around the southern Okinawan islands.
