Peters' monocle bream is a threadfin bream that reaches 25 cm in length. It swims, as if hovering, near the seafloor. It is found alone or in small schools. It feeds on small crustaceans that hide in the sand.  Brown or yellow bands run along each side of its body. Parts of its dorsal and caudal fins are yellow.
