Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium has introduced a male devil fish (Mobula mobular) to the Kuroshio Sea Tank.

This species of Mobula reaches 3 meters in width. It has a pair of cephalic fins on its head, which are usually curved and look like two horns. It looks similar to the smoothtail devil ray, however, the devil fish can be distinguished by the spine at the end of its tail, and spiracles above the base of its pectoral fins.

In the Kuroshio Sea Tank, there was a solitary Female devil fish. We have introduced a male devil fish to join the male in the tank.
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, through breeding of the devil fish, hopes to shine light on the reproductive ecology and conservation of this species.
