Notes
Against a backdrop of blue skies and the sea, Okichan Theater has created countless smiles and cheers over the years. The bottlenose dolphin “Okichan,” which carries the name of this facility, returned to the eternal sea in December 2025. Since the 1975 Okinawa International Ocean Expo, its presence over nearly half a century has remained deeply etched in the memories of many people.
Powerful jumps that send water spraying high into the air, charming and expressive gestures, and a gentle gaze that seems to embrace all visitors. Okichan has brought inspiration and joy to countless guests as a symbol of Okinawa’s beautiful seas.
At the current Okichan Theater, Okichan’s companions and younger dolphins carry on that spirit and continue to deliver lively performances every day. In this place where sea breezes pass through and warm applause echoes through the stands, it still feels as if Okichan’s gentle presence lives on.
The irreplaceable time and emotions that Okichan gave us over more than 50 years will continue to live on in the hearts of visitors together with this theater.
