The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium has been working to conserve organisms as one of the Japanese Ministry of Environment’s Certified Zoos and Botanical Gardens Conserving Rare Species.

Protection of living organisms

At Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, we sometimes rescue weakened animals, and release them back into the wild. We also release rare species that we have bred in captivity (headstarting). Our goal is the conservation of the natural environment.
