At the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, we are now exhibiting the wrought iron butterflyfish, which is endemic to Japan.

English name:Wrought iron butterflyfish
Its Japanese name “yuzen” comes from the special method of fabric dying called yuzen.
Wrought iron butterflyfish are a species endemic to Japan and live only in very limited areas of the world such as the Daito Islands and the Ogasawara Islands.It has white speckles scattered across its black body, and a yellow edge at the rear of the dorsal fin, tail fin, and anal fin.
