Journey into the Deep Sea in the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Exhibit duration

The exhibited individual was collected at a depth of around 200 meters, 80 km off the coast of the main island of Okinawa. Captive breeding began in July 2020. Using our knowledge from previous experiences, we have undertaken parasite prevention and adjusted the shape of the tank so that we could succeed in the world’s first exhibit of this species.
Through rearing the goldflag jobfish in the aquarium we can shed light on the ecology and reproductive behavior of this species.
